The biggest Loom complaints.
Atlassian bought Loom in 2023, and the roadmap has followed the suite ever since: Jira and Confluence integration, accounts merged into Atlassian identity, support through Atlassian org URLs. The complaints that follow are the same four, almost every time.
Billing surprises
At the Atlassian migration, the free Creator Lite tier was discontinued and its seats were automatically upgraded to paid Creator seats, with a deactivation deadline instead of an opt-in. Loom now charges for workspace members who only view private videos.
Recording issues
Frozen recordings, failed uploads, videos stuck at uploading, audio drifting out of sync. A recording that has to be rerecorded defeats the point of a tool that exists to save you time.
Lockouts and login friction
The move to Atlassian identity meant forced account merges and SSO reconfiguration. Some people were locked out during the migration; others simply found signing in and recording more complicated than it used to be.
Features moving up a tier
Summaries, chapters, filler word removal and transcript-based editing sit in the Business + AI tier, so the features people actually want come with another price jump. Free accounts also cap how many videos you can keep, so older recordings get deleted to make room.

Summaries, chapters, auto-edit and the AI assistant are available on every tier, not behind a separate AI plan. The people watching get the same layer without a paid seat: anyone with the link can read along, skim the chapters, and ask the AI assistant questions about the video. The point of all of it is the same, get the idea out and move the work forward.
The professional look.
Supercut records the screen and camera separately by default, so you choose how they are laid out after you have stopped: Bubble, Cutout, Split, camera only or screen only, changeable at any point with no retake. Prefer the camera burned in? Switch it on and drag the bubble where you like while you record.
You can customize your supercuts further: add your logo and colors, which Loom also offers on its first paid plan, and change the fonts, which it does not. Everything is set once for the whole team and applied to every share page, so what you send looks like it came from your company rather than from a tool.
It works with your stack, not just Atlassian's.

When Loom is still enough.
Loom is still the best option if the free seat is enough for you right now: you only record a few videos, and those videos do not need to look polished or kick off agentic work of any kind.
The same goes if your team operates in Atlassian's ecosystem and your videos do not need to look polished. Looking good when you show your work is best practice, but it is not a must for every team.
